The Desert Springs Resort & Spa is located in Palm Desert, California 15 miles from Palm Springs and 107 miles east of Los Angeles. The Coachella Valley desert region is surrounded by the San Bernardino, San Jacinto, Santa Rosa, and the Little San Bernardino Mountain ranges. This area is well known as a golf resort destination, and a vacation destination. Joshua Tree National Park located in the Mohave and Colorado Desert is less than an hour drive from the resort.

Joshua Tree National Park
Start at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center at the West Entrance to the park. The park is known for great stargazing so plan to come after lunch and stay until dark. Bring plenty of water and a picnic for dinner. From the Visitor's Center take Park Blvd. to Hidden Valley Trail (1 mile easy loop). Turn right off of Park Blvd. and head to Keys View. At an elevation of 5,185 feet you have a great view of the surrounding valley, mountains, and desert. Return back to Park Blvd and continue south to Barker Dam Trail (1 mile easy loop). Don't miss a stop at Jumbo Rocks. In the evening, find a spot in a campground or roadside pullout to enjoy the stars. |
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world's largest rotating tram. It takes visitors up 2 1/2 miles to Mt. San Jacinto State Park. At the Mountain Station you can find 2 restaurants, observations decks, and other park services. There are 50 miles of hiking trails for various skill levels. The Discovery Trail (1 mile easy loop) begins at the Mountain Station and takes you through the pine forest and along the ridge to see the desert valley below. Start the loop to the right and go counterclockwise. Keep in mind that the temperature at the summitt can be up to 40 degrees colder than downtown. |
