Grand Teton National Park is located in the northwest part of Wyoming. There are miles of hiking trails for all ability levels. Visitors can also take a boat trip around one of its many lakes or take a float trip down the Snake River. Keep your eyes open for wildlife! The park is centrally located between the resort town of Jackson Hole to the south and Yellowstone National Park to the north. |
Model Itinerary
Day 1:
The closest airport to the park is located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It takes about 25 minutes to drive from the airport to the park entrance. If you are coming to the park from Yellowstone, it will take you about 2 hours to arrive at the park entrance. However, plan for a longer drive because you will end up stopping for pictures of the surrounding mountains or you will be stopped by wildlife crossing the road! |
Day 2:
It’s a short drive from Jackson Hole to Grand Teton National Park. One of the most popular hikes in the park is the Hidden Falls & Inspiration Point Trail (1.8 mile moderate hike). Take the Jenny Lake Lodge Boat across the lake or hike around the lake if time permits. It’s a short hike to Hidden Falls, then another half-mile up to Inspiration Point for a great view of Jenny Lake below. Plan to spend the next 2 nights at Jackson Lake Lodge. |
Day 3:
Book a 2 hour guided float trip on a large raft that leaves from the Lodge and floats down the river. Floating down the river gives you a chance to see wildlife up close and enjoy the scenery from a unique perspective. Contact Jackson Lake Lodge for information. The Colter Bay area has Ranger talks, hiking trails, and a marina with great views of the surrounding mountains. |
Day 4:
Finish up any remaining hikes or ranger activities that look interesting to you and then head back for a few days in Jackson Hole. You can also combine this trip with a trip to Yellowstone which is only a 2 hour drive from the Teton’s. I highly recommend booking 2 nights at The Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole before flying home. |
Day 5:
When you walk around downtown Jackson Hole you feel like you have gone back in time to visit the old west. In the morning, walk around the town square and take a ride on a stage coach. After lunch, drive to Teton Village and ride the gondola to the top of the mountains for great views and a short walk to the summit. |
Day 7:
Fly Home and start planning your next adventure! Or continue your trip with the Yellowstone Itinerary |
